Open House at Piano Congress

On September 2nd, an open house event will be organized for everyone who is interested in music. On that day the entry to the instrument exhibition is free of any charge. Educational seminars and young pianists’ concerts will be held additionally. 

The world congress of tuners, manufacturers, renovators and retailers will be held in Poland for the first time in history. Representatives of this branch from the whole globe will meet in Warsaw between September 2nd and September 4th.

Piano and grand piano exhibition 
The event is a perfect occasion for presenting the piano and grand piano exhibition to the greater audience. The following manufacturers have confirmed the participation of their works in the exhibition: Petrof, C. Bechsetin, Kawai, Steingraeber & Söhne, Yamaha, Bösendorfer. In the 1800-square-meter large area, 20 various expositors will present their products — manufacturers, renovators, instrument constructors, component suppliers and retailers. It is a unique occasion for music school students, teachers, and all students interested in pianos to experience and see this many expositors in one place in Poland.

Young pianists’ concerts

Additionally to the main exhibition, two young-performer piano concerts will be held on that day. Twelve juvenile pianists from whole Poland, students of music schools, will perform in the halls of the congress. The concerts will be held consecutively at 11:30 AM and 2:30 PM.

Educational seminars 
The event will include four educational seminars:

  • 10:00 AM — 11:30 AM: “A workshop on constructing a modern grand piano with Lego bricks” — during the construction of the brick model the participant will have an opportunity to compare the internal mechanisms will a real-life instrument (based on a Renner’s grand piano). The workshop will be conducted by Marta Polańska from Music-Artistic Association Sfogato.
  • 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM: “How to take care of a piano or a grand piano” — this workshop focuses on advice aimed at the users of pianos and grand pianos (including music school teachers). The workshop will be conducted by an experienced tuner of Polish Piano Tuners Association (SPSF).
  • 1:30 PM — 2:30 PM: “Piano vs grand piano. Similarities and differences” — two kindred yet different instruments. A representative of Polish Piano Tuners Association will explain the functionality, common features and the differences between these two instruments.
  • 3:00 PM — 4:00 PM: “Tuning procedure of a concerto grand piano” — Michal Bendarski from Polish Piano Tuners Association will present the tuning procedure and explain its stages on the newest concerto grand piano — Yamaha CFX.

The open house event will be held at Double Tree by Hilton Hotel in Warsaw, Skalnicowa 12 st. (Wawer district) between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM. Music-Artistic Association Sfogato is a partner of SPSF at the open house event.
